Structure and Functions

The Department is structured into two (2) Divisions namely:

  1. Cadastral; and
  2. Legal Survey

Functions

i.             Responsible for cadast1al and legal survey of government properties including housing and landed properties nationwide

ii.           Providing horizontal and vertical controls on projects sites to aid setting out and profiling and other construction activities.

iii.         Establishing and maintaining the Cadastral Geographic Information System (COIS) for the creation and maintenance of the digital
cadastral database;

iv.          Establishing/extension controls for Cadastral Survey projects; and

v.           Representing the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation in court as an expert witness on public and private properties
litigation amongst others.
