Surv. Uzoma, Anyadiegwu Godwin
Surv. Uzoma, worked as a surveyor with Ogun State Property and Investment Cooperation (OPIC) before joining Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation as a Pupil Surveyor in 1987. He became the Chief Resident Surveyor, Bayelsa State in 2006. As an Assistant Director he was appointed the Special Assistance to the Surveyor General of the Federation in 2013. He became the General Manager OSGOF Consult and Head of Public and Private Partnership (PPP)/Commercial Unit in 2016. He was appointed Head of Survey Unit Federal Ministry of Niger Dealt Affairs as a Deputy Director in 2017. Surv. Uzoma was made the Acting Director Survey Co-ordination Department in 2016.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Surv. Uzoma attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in 2013 for Masters degree (M.sc) in GIS. He had a B.sc in Surveying from University of Nigeria Nssuka in 1986. He attended Merchants of Light School, Oba for his West Africa School Certificate in 1978. He is a Registered Surveyor with Surveyor council of Nigeria (SURCON) and a Member of Nigerian Institution of Surveying (NIS).
The Survey Coordination Department is made up of two Divisions: Coordination, Monitoring and Compliance. The Department acts as the external affair Department of the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation. It liaises with both private and government bodies on behalf of the Office on issues of surveying and mapping.
The functions of the Department are as follows:
(i) Managing the pool of surveyors in the Federal Civil Service;
(ii) Producing and updating of technical manuals, instructions and Specifications for Surveying and mapping projects;
(iii) Coordinating Survey activities all over the country in line with the Survey Coordination Act of 1962 and its amendments;
(iv) Creating/Updating the Geo-spatial data bank of the Federal Government;
(iv) Liaison with the States’ Surveyors General in monitoring all survey activities in the country;
(v) Organizing the Annual Survey Coordination and Advisory Board on Survey Training Conference (aka National Surveying and Mapping Conference). The department represents the Office on the Governing Council of Federal School of Surveying, Oyo and Surveyors Council of Nigeria.
It is also the Departments duty to reach out to other stake holders in the Surveying and Mapping profession on behalf of OSGOF. The department collaborates with Security Agencies on issues that concern security and mapping.
